How to grow fruits and vegetables in Small Area?

You don’t need a garden to grow your fruit and vegetables.

Do you want to grow your fruit and vegetables but don’t have a garden?

Do you feel restricted by space?

Are you disheartened by TV garden shows set in beautiful, spacious gardens?

Don’t be! Where there’s a will there’s a way!

You can grow your herbs, salad leaves, vegetables, and even beans, in pots in your very own kitchen.

Follow the advice below for an abundant indoor garden:

1. Look for cut-and-come-again seeds:

Most seed companies sell these and they are particularly useful for pots, small containers, and baskets.

If you are unsure ask at your local flower or garden shop.

They may be able to provide them as plug-plants (plants that are already growing and which will produce fruits and veg much sooner than seeds)

2. Buy your pots, containers, or baskets with plastic lining:

You must make sure that all these manage to retain some water while they also have drainage holes.

A simple piece of advice is to keep these holes small, or at least proportionate to the container/basket/pot size.

3. Space:

Salad leaves are particularly suited for baskets as they grow faster and are cut more often.

Tomatoes and peppers need space too but not as much as whole plants.

Medium size&depth pots with saucers are ideal for these.

The same goes for fruits. Herbs can be planted in small containers as long as they are cut and used frequently.

4. Compost:

Opt for multi-purpose compost.

5. Winter & Summer:

In the winter keep your plants indoors in good light and away from windows that are not well-sealed.

In the summer make sure your plants always have enough water.

6. Watering:

During normal conditions (not too hot, not too cold) check your plants twice daily and water them with care, protecting the young plants from being submerged.

7. Colour & Taste:

Sorrel blood veined seeds, leaf mustards, golden streaked and red, and Sky Rocket are not only interesting, exciting, and delicious but they also add color to your collection. Stir-fry seeds such as mizuna normally give you enough leaves to last you for two seasons.

Good luck! Plus, one of the, added benefits is that with a herb garden at home, you can keep clean and keep your hair looking yummy-mummy beautiful, too, without having to get the Head and Shoulders out each time you want to be green-fingered at home.
